The Makers Club includes a variety of musical activities, among them playing, singing, conducting, building musical instruments and more alongside other interdisciplinary creative activities such as movement games, dance, theater, visual-arts and more.
The games and activities combine the different arts through systems researched and developed by Geerte and Maya with adults and children.
In general, The Makers Club’s work frame is open and free. It’s structured as well as made on spot by listening to the children, as individuals and as a group. Our motivation is to encourage interdisciplinary creativity and strengthen the talents unique to every child; to allow freedom of imagination and trigger creative ideas.
Next to the associative mind set, we lead more structured activities in order to enrich the children’s tool-box, sharpen existing qualities and expand their sources of inspiration. Among these activities you can find the “Orchestra” which gathers for playing in various instruments, singing, conducting, improvisation, making instant-compositions. Through this activity we learn about the language of music.
In addition there are ‘specialized’ activities which focus on one theme, which we research and experience in depth. Among these are: “Sounds, voices and noises from the nature”, “Shadow theater”, “Silent movie Orchestra”, “A world without words”, “Musical sensorial theater”, “Venice mask carnival”, “Soundscapes in the city”, “Hiphop/language/music”, “Graphic scores” and more.
The specialized activities mostly include listening to a “concert”, active participation, creation and making, experiencing, learning and a concluding performance by the children.
