moving music
A series of solo performances for Viola and movement
Moving music is a series of solo performances, structured improvisations, about the hybrid of music and movement. An interdisciplinary space where sound and movement happen simultaneously. They don’t accompany or trigger each other, there’s no hierarchy between them.
4 years ago I started researching physical movement and music through Laban Movement Analysis. This performance is one of its expressions. I investigate the interaction between the two disciplines and the effects they have on each other. Music is movement of sound in space. Playing can be like dance with an object, the instrument can become part of a body. Moving music wishes to create an experience that questions categories and divisions between disciplines, and explores a reality where borders are more flexible and fluid. A reality that can allow new ideas to emerge and develop.
