scratchange
Scratchange is a musical piece made with only graphic and literary instructions so also non-musicians can play it.
You can play it on your own or with others, using your voice or any musical instrument.
Scratchange was commisioned by nY magazine and published on nY#38 in February 2019.
The nY#38 topic is "Steady State esthetics", as described by curator Samuel Vriezen: "the background to the idea is that Capitalist esthetics was always based on constant change, hunting the new, permanent growth etc. However, if humanity is to survive, there will emerge a new type of society and economy that cannot be built on growth any more. So we have to envision this possibility of a 'steady state' that we can achieve."
How to play?
Scratchange has 3 parts: 1) Scratch 2) Silence 3)Change
You can play it in this order or change it however you like.
If more than one person in playing: you can all follow the same order of parts or each play a different order.
Scratchange was premiered in January 2019 by Dante Boon (Piano) and Dirk Serries (Guitar) at the "DNK DAYS Present: nY Magazine Launch" in the Pianola Museum, Amsterdam.
