Moving Music is a workshop for musicians who wish to explore and experiment with the use of their body in music making.
Moving music is a new practice researching the application of concepts from the movement and dance world in music making. By abstracting and unfolding concepts from the discipline of movement and dance; understanding and deconstructing the notion of technique from skill and discipline, we will research the movement of our music-making bodies and its new found relation to musical instruments (and/or voice).
The workshop is for musicians - instrumentalists, vocalists and electronic-musicians; professionals ,amatuers, of any style, genre, level and age. No previous experience is required . Please bring your musical instrument (if you have one) and comfortable clothes for moving.

Moving Music can be understood from the perspective of a meeting point between music and dance, in its broader ramification. This is a new research practice, asks to turn the physical action of play. As musicians, we are familiar with body movements that happen ‘organically’ when making music. Many times, the movement is one of the ways in which we achieve a specific sound result. Our movement serves the sound. But what if we ‘forget’ about the sound and focus on the movement?
With individual and group exercises, improvisation etudes, creative tasks and by observing and reflecting, we will study and explore concepts from many movement methods such as LMA, Modern dance, Pilates and more, unfold them and apply in music. Each participant is encouraged to find their own limitations and possibilities and bring it into a group discussion with the aim of creating a mutual learning environment.
